Apple TV+ is developing a game series called Speed Racer, based on Tatsuo Yoshida's classic manga series that went to print from 1966 to 1968. The deal will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot, owned by Jay Jay Abrams.
As of this writing, we know that Iram Martinez ("Through the Snow") and Ron Fitzgerald ("Wild West World") have prepared the script for the Apple TV+ game series, who will also serve as showrunners and executive producers on the project.
The manga about the racing driver Speedy, who races around the world, has been adapted several times. In 1967, the anime series Speedy Racer, created by the Japanese studio Tatsunoko Productions, was released. The Americans made their own version of the series of 13 episodes called "The New Adventures of Speedy Rider" in 1993. In 2008, Lana Wachowski and Lilly Wachowski presented their take on the adventures of the famous Speedy Rider in the feature-length action sports movie "Speedy Rider".
