"Army of the Dead" wins the audience vote at the 2022 Oscars

Zack Snyder's "Army of the Dead" won the "Fan Award" at the 2022 Academy Awards, beating out other popular films such as "Spider-Man 3: No Way Home" with Tom Holland and "Cinderella" with Camila Cabeio in the viewer vote.
The unofficial award, announced Sunday, March 27, 2022, during the Academy Awards, was part of a partnership between the American Academy of Film and Twitter that gave a popular film released in 2021, whether or not it received an Oscar nomination, a chance to top the viewer vote. Users were allowed to vote up to 20 times a day for a set period for their favorites, and the most active ones would be chosen later to travel to Los Angeles for an award at next year's Oscars.
The Motion Picture Academy's Oscar-Twitter proposal earlier this February drew the ire of some Academy members, who considered it an awkward move that appeals to the masses at the expense of artistic merit.
