Dwayne Johnson in the guise of the anti-hero Black Adam could be appearing on your movie viewing device today. Warner Bros. has officially announced digital release dates for the movie comic "Black Adam," which has certainly caused understandable surprise among DC Comics fans. "Black Adam" will be released on digital platforms on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, exactly one month after its debut in theaters. It will then appear on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023.
As a reminder, "Black Adam," which held the lead at the U.S. box office for the first three weeks of its release, remains banned from release in China along with another fall 2022 superhero film, Marvel Studios' "Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever." The studio's decision for a digital release was probably helped by recommendations from Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, which talked about experimenting with release strategies for certain films, instead of sending them to HBO Max streaming straight from theaters.
The day before, Dwayne Johnson expressed irritation over the media's analogies between "Black Adam" and "Black Panther 2." In particular, the DC Comics star was hurt by a comparison of the films box office.
