"Black Panther 2" star estimates sequel's scope

Wakanda Queen Mother performer Angela Bassett claims the sequel to "Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever" will be "bigger and better" than the original 2018 comic book movie "Black Panther." While appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Bassett called the upcoming film "terrific and its writer and director, Ryan Coogler, "the perfect lead." Noting that she couldn't reveal details, the actress said: "The movie is going to be amazing. It will surpass the first one. Is it enough if I say so?"
During the conversation, DeGeneres asked how difficult it was for the cast to return to the sequel without Chadwick Bowsman, who played T'Challa/Black Panther in the first film. "He was such an example, such a leader, an amazing talent - we all know that," Bassett said when asked. - Big heart, big intellect, we just hope to reach his level."
The first comic book movie, released in theaters in February 2018, earned $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office. The sequel, whose production has been delayed for a number of reasons, including the death of Bowsman, the COVID-19 pandemic and the injury of Leticia Wright, has finally "hit the finish line." Its theatrical release is scheduled for November 11, 2022.
