Brad Pitt's Plan B studio, which has produced such popular films as "12 Years a Slave," "The Departed" and "Moonlight," as well as this season's award contender "Blondie," is exploring deals with potential investors, including an outright sale.
Sources confirm that global independent investment bank Moelis & Co. has been hired by studio executives to look for possible buyers. Plan B has already received multiple offers, but all of them are exploratory in nature.
Recall that Plan B was created in late 2001 by Brad Pitt and his then-wife Jennifer Aniston. When the duo broke up, Pitt took over the label in 2005.
As for television, the company won an Emmy Award for the HBO series "Ordinary Heart" and received nominations for the show "Feud," the documentary "Big Men" and the TV movie "Nightingale."
In recent years, several film production companies have attracted big investors, such as Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs' Candle Media, which acquired Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine label for nearly a billion dollars, A24 received a $225 million investment from Stripes as a lead investor and so on.
