"CODA" and "Don't Look Up" honored for best screenplay in 2021

The Screenwriters Guild of America has announced the recipients of its annual award. The 74th ceremony was held on March 20, 2022.
CODA: A Child of Deaf Parents added another to its trophies in the current awards season, winning in the best adapted screenplay category. The award went to Sian Heder. Recall that the film has already won the Producers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild of America awards and is one of the main contenders for the American Academy Award.
The Best Original Screenplay category went to Adam McKay and David Sirota, who co-wrote the script for the satirical drama Don't Look Up.
Two HBO projects, the comedy series "The Tricks" and the drama series "The Heirs," won awards in the "television" section. "Tricks," starring Gene Smart, also won in the "best script in a new series" category. Another HBO television project, "Mair of Easttown," was honored in the "best adapted script for a mini-series" category, while laurels for creating an original script went to the mini-series "The Janitor.
