Creator of "The Cloverfield Paradox" will make a movie about Captain America
Nigerian-American director Julius Ona, best known for the 2018 sci-fi thriller "The Cloverfield Paradox," is set to direct the fourth solo Captain America film from Marvel Studios.
Anthony Mackie will play the role of Sam Wilson, who inherits the shield of Captain America. This comes after the events of the Disney+ streaming series "Falcon and the Winter Soldier" in 2021, in which Wilson, formerly the superhero Falcon, after much hesitation, finally agreed to take over the baton from Steve Rogers.
It's still unclear whether Chris Evans, who played Captain America in the Marvel Comics feature film adaptations, will appear, as well as other members of the film universe. Filming start date has also not been disclosed.
Recall that Anthony Mackie has played the Falcon in several movies based on the comic books, starting with "The First Avenger 2: Another War." In Avengers 4: The Finale, Steve Rogers symbolically gave Wilson the star-spangled shield as his closest friend Bucky Barnes declined the honor, unsure if anyone in the future would not want to take advantage of his reliance on the Winter Soldier code combination program.
