Crime drama starring Renée Zellweger sets NBC viewing records
The premiere of the new mini-series "Something About Pam," starring Renee Zellweger, set an unprecedented record on NBC. The channel's key audience demo rating increased by nearly 400 percent in a week of delayed viewings and viewings on digital platforms.
The debut episode of the Blumhouse Studios-produced TV show, which aired the evening of March 8, 2022, initially received a 0.4 rating among adults ages 18 to 49 and drew 2.9 million viewers at the screens on its premiere day, according to Nielsen.
A week later, the demo rating jumped to 1.93 and viewership rose to 8.7 million. That is, compared to the night of the premiere, the first episode's demo rating was up 387 percent and total viewership was up 205 percent. According to NBC, "Something About Pam" is the best "digital" series premiere during its first seven days on the channel's Peacock streaming service.
The crime drama is based on a true story that took place in 2011. The plot centers on life-sentenced Pam Happ (Zellweger), whose cunning plan that took the lives of several people was eventually uncovered. The six-part project draws on the popular Dateline podcast of the same name.
