David Fincher's thriller featuring Michael Fassbender premiered in Venice.

David Fincher's new thriller, "The Killer", inspired by the French comic series of the same name by Alexis Nolent (under the pseudonym Matz) and artist Luc Jacamon, debuted this past weekend at the Venice Film Festival. As of this report, the film has garnered over 20 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, boasting a freshness rating of 91%. Critics agree that the neo-noir styled action film is well-acted and masterfully constructed, although some believe it may come across a tad calm and slow-paced compared to what one might expect from a movie of its genre. "The Killer" is set to stream on November 10, 2023.

Plot Overview of "The Killer"

According to Netflix, "Following a fateful misstep, a hitman battles both his employers and himself in a global manhunt which, he insists, is nothing personal." Michael Fassbender plays the primary antagonist, while Tilda Swinton portrays his employer. The printed comic "Le Tueur" was in circulation from 1998 to 2013, with the hardcover collection released in 2017. The dark series initially depicts the nameless assassin as morally directionless. Judging from the synopsis of Fincher's film, it dives into the later stages of the killer's story when his conscience begins to stir.
