DC Studios will film a new animated version of the Guardians comic strip
The studio has announced plans to screen the famous comic book film
At the ongoing Comic-Con festival in San Diego, DC Studios announced work on an animated Guardians film. During the presentation of the studio's projects, an adaptation of the classic graphic novel was unveiled along with a version of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Both announcements came as a complete surprise to those in attendance.
The Guardians was last seen in 2019 in HBO's highly acclaimed mini-series. Representatives from DC Studios are keeping quiet about what they plan to do next. It could be a direct adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' novel. Or it could be a sequel series set at some point in the future after the events set out in the original comic book.
What do the creators of the Guardians comic book think about its film adaptations?
Alan Moore is known to dislike having his name mentioned in connection with any new versions of Watchmen. Dave Gibbons is more loyal in this matter. The situation with "Watchmen" escalated while the series was airing on HBO. Showrunner Damon Lindelof wrote Alan Moore a passionate letter about what the novel meant to him, which the writer found odd. The HBO series nevertheless received high critical acclaim and a number of prestigious awards.
