Disney+ is exploring a cruise to Skull Island. Streaming is in the early stages of developing a game series with the working title "King Kong" about the famous monster. The project by Disney Branded Television Studios will tell the origin story of the giant gorilla. James Wan's studio Atomic Monster, owned by James Wan, has just inked a deal on the project, which will be the first game series in the Kong universe.
"King Kong," from a script written by Stephanie Fols ("Newspaper Girls"), is an adventure drama that brings the classic monster story into the modern era with the return to Skull Island and the dawn of a new Kong. The series will focus on the mythology of King Kong's origins and the supernatural mysteries of his homeland, taking plots from the original stories by Merian K. Cooper and Joe Devito's new short stories about King Kong.
Executive producer duties will be shared by Wang, Rob Hackett, Michael Cleare and Danny Festa.
Five years ago, MarVista Entertainment and IM Global Television developed the "King Kong Skull Island" game series with a different creative team, also based on Cooper's 1933 film King Kong. Festa served as executive producer, but the project never materialized.King Kong
The 90-year-old King Kong, whose copyrights pose a large and confusing problem, has been the subject of numerous films, most recently produced by Legendary/Warner Bros. Studios, which used only part of the monster gorilla's monster moniker in the title: Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla 2: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). In January of this year, it was revealed that Netflix was developing an animated series called Skull Island.
