Elliott Page's character on "Umbrella Academy" will turn transgender

Elliott Page's character Vanya Hargreaves in the upcoming third season of the "Umbrella Academy" series will declare himself transgender and take a new name, Victor. The actor made the announcement on social media on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, accompanying his "Meet Victor" post with a still from the new season. Netflix backed up Page with a return comment, "Welcome to the family, Victor, we're so glad you're here."
As a reminder, the Netflix series is based on the Gerard Way comic book series and is about a dysfunctional family of superheroes, adopted siblings who reunite to solve the mystery of their father's death and prevent the threat of an imminent apocalypse.
According to Netflix, in season three, after ending the doomsday of 1963, the Academy members return home to the present, convinced that they have averted the apocalypse and fixed that timeline. But after a brief moment of triumph, they realize that things are not quite the same, or rather, not at all the way they were before. The team faces stiff confrontation, overcoming adversity, loss, and surprises as they deal with an unidentified destructive entity they may have caused themselves. The third season will premiere on June 22, 2022.
