"Fantastic Creatures 3" is predicted to have a weak start
Warner Bros. "Fantastic Beasts 3: The Dumbledore Mysteries" is off to a worse start at the domestic box office than its predecessors. Early predictions suggest that it could gross between $40 million and $55 million in its North American premiere weekend.
Negative factors affecting the outcome are cited as "the negative reaction of some fans to "Potter" author Joan Rowling's public social comments." Increasing competition at the box office is also noted. Some family audiences may prefer other film projects, such as "Sonic 2 at the Movies," which will be released at the same time.
Recall that the second episode of "The Crime of Grindale" received mixed reviews, making it the first film about the magical world of Harry Potter to receive a "rotten" rating from Rotten Tomatoes, and proved to be the least grossing episode in the entire franchise. Its domestic opening gross was only $62.2 million, (by comparison, the first installment started at $74.4 million). In addition, it was the only film in the franchise to earn less than $200 million at the North American box office.
The Dumbledore Mysteries will be released to the public in early April 2022.
