Film Academy condemns Will Smith's assault at the 2022 Oscars

The American Film Academy has issued a statement about Will Smith's scandal at the 2022 Oscars "The Academy does not condone violence in any form," according to an official statement issued about two hours after Smith took the stage and slapped host Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.
At the same time, the film academy tried to refocus attention on the more dignified elements of the evening: "Tonight we were pleased to honor our 94 Oscar winners, who deserve this recognition from their peers and film fans around the world."
As a reminder, Will Smith won an Academy Award for his starring role in the biographical drama King Richard. During his acceptance speech, he apologized for his antics to members of the Film Academy and his rivals for the nomination, but there was no public apology to Chris Rock.
Police did not detain Smith because the victim had not filed a report against his assailant, but warned that the case could still be pursued legally if a complaint was filed.
