What is the animated series "Futurama" about?
The animated series premiered in 1999 and quickly gained a loyal following and gained recognition, winning two Emmy Awards for best animated show. The series is about Philip Fry (Billy West), a pizza delivery man from New York City who accidentally freezes himself in 1999 and defrosts in the year 3000. In this amazing new New York, he develops a friendship with a hard-drinking robot named Bender (John DiMaggio) and falls in love with cyclops Lila (Kathy Sagal). The trio finds work at the delivery company Interplanetary Express, founded by a decrepit descendant of Fry, Professor Hubert Farnsworth. Together with accountant Hermes Conrad, assistant Amy Wong, and human-lobster-like alien Dr. Zoidberg, they embark on exciting adventures throughout the universe.
