Futurama season eight release date announced
'Interplanetary Express' to arrive on Hulu in summer 2023
Fan-awaited sci-fi comedy Futurama is poised to unveil its eighth season as soon as summer 2023, although there's no specific date yet for the arrival of Interplanetary Express on Hulu streaming service. At the time of writing, it is not known whether the eighth season, which was announced for production in February 2022, is a one-off, or will be the start of a reboot of the iconic show.
As a reminder, the series, created in 1999 by Matt Groening and David E. Cohen, ended in 2013 with the episode 'Meanwhile'. In this episode, which at the time was considered the series finale, Fry and Leela were able to live full lives, growing old together, while the rest of the world was frozen in time. In the final moments of the episode, Professor Farnsworth suggests the pair return to their world and now, ahead of the release of season eight, fans are wondering if Fry and Leela will still maintain their relationship or if the reboot will start all over again.
On Hulu's official Futurama page, the show's description, after confirming that new episodes will appear in summer 2023, says: "Futurama from Simpsons creator Matt Groening and writer/producer David E. Cohen premiered in 1999 and quickly won loyal fans and critical acclaim, including two Emmy awards for 'best animated series'. Although set in the distant future, the show is known for its satirical commentary on life in the present."

The series is about Fry (Billy West), a pizza delivery guy from New York City who accidentally freezes himself and defrosts in the year 3000. In this amazing new New York, he strikes up a friendship with heavy-drinking robot Bender (John DiMaggio) and falls in love with cyclops Leela (Katie Sagal). The trio finds employment with the delivery company Interplanetary Express, founded by Fry's feeble-minded descendant, Professor Hubert Farnsworth. Together with accountant Hermes Conrad, assistant Amy Wong and human-lobster-like alien Dr Zoidberg, they embark on exciting adventures that take them to all corners of the universe and many other places.
