George R.R. Martin urged HBO to extend "Game of Thrones" for at least 10 seasons.

In conjunction with the debut of "House of the Dragon" on HBO Sunday, August 21, 2022, American writer George R.R. Martin revealed that he once insisted that the "Game of Thrones" series have more seasons. Martin, whose "A Song of Ice and Fire" literary series was the basis for the hit "Game of Thrones," complained that series co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss decided to end the series after eight seasons. Martin stressed that he had advocated for the series to go on for many more seasons, giving the narrative a broader scope.
I said the show should have had at least 10 seasons, maybe 12, 13. But I lost," the writer said in particular.
"And as a result, Martin had little to say in the final part of 'Game of Thrones,' because the events of the series went beyond the storyline of the books, which he has not published so far.
My contributions to the final seasons have been negligible, other than the world itself, the story and all the characters," he said. - "I think I have more influence on 'House of the Dragon' now than the original show."
Game of Thrones. Release Date - 04/14/2011
The fantasy series created by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for HBO quickly became a real hit and amassed a huge fan base in eight years (2011-2019). The series, based on George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, has won numerous awards, and the actors starring in it have become true stars. Unfortunately, according to most, the creators failed to hold the bar high in the final eighth season, which was criticized. In July 2022, Martin hinted that the sixth novel of the saga, The Winds of Winter, which he is currently working on, will have differences concerning the fates of the major Game of Thrones characters.
