Legendary announces new title for Godzilla vs Kong sequel
The sequel to the 2021 film Godzilla vs Kong has a new title. The sequel to the story of the battle between the two famous monsters is now called Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. This news was released by production studio Legendary on social media.

Rebecca Hall and Brian Tyree Henry, who played leading roles in the original film, as well as its director Adam Wingard will return in the sequel. Dan Stevens, Chen Fala, Alex Furness and Rachel House will join the cast.

The sci-fi action film Godzilla vs Kong grossed $470 million at the worldwide box office, which is a respectable sum for the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when many viewers were still hesitant to visit cinemas. The film was released in a hybrid arrangement - simultaneously in cinemas and on streaming service HBO Max - which caused controversy at the time.

The sequel is being filmed from a script co-written by Terry Rossio, Jeremy Slater and Simon Barrett and is set in Queensland, Australia. Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire is scheduled to premiere on 15 March 2024. A teaser can be viewed at this link.
