"Halo" star confirmed talks for Wolverine role
"Halo" sci-fi action movie star Pablo Schreiber has been in talks with Marvel for the role of Wolverine from the X-Men comic book movies, which has been listed as Hugh Jackman for years. The actor in 2017 discussed the prospect of a "reboot" of the mutant with metal claws after Jackman's swan song in the X-Men spin-off "Logan." In a new interview with the Bingeworthy podcast, Schreiber said he's "open" to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as producer Kevin Feigy prepares to reboot Fox Studios' X-Men films.
Yeah. You know, it's not uncommon for a fan's idea to work out. I had a bunch of talks with Marvel at different points in my career. But we never got the right role at the right time. But I'm certainly open to it, and when the right role is found, I'll know it's the right one." When asked about wanting to play the Canadian mutant Wolverine, the Canadian-American actor said the following: "We've been flirting with the idea for a while. Absolutely, it would be fantastic, it would be dream casting. In fact, he's my favorite character, since I was a kid the Wolverine comics have always been my favorite."
Feigy in 2021 denied rumors that Marvel Studios had found a new Wolverine to replace Jackman. The Australian actor, who played the character in nine X-Men films between 2000 and 2017, confirmed that he has turned down his role at Marvel.
"Halo," an adaptation of the famous video game of the same name starring Schreiber, will premiere on Paramount+ on March 24, 2022.
