Hollywood will write scripts using artificial intelligence ChatGPT
Screenwriters Guild approves use of ChatGPT by authors
Screenwriters Guild of the United States allowed the use of artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT when writing the scripts of movies and TV series, provided that it does not affect the mention of the authors in the titles and the payment of due compensation.
The Guild has previously indicated that it would propose to regulate the use of artificial intelligence in the writing process, which has already become a problem for screenwriters who fear losing their jobs. Contrary to some expectations, the Guild is not proposing an outright ban on the use of artificial intelligence technology.
Instead, writers would be allowed to use ChatGPT, or a studio manager could give an AI-generated script to an author for rewriting or polishing.
The proposal actually treats artificial intelligence as a tool rather than a writer. It is intended to allow members of the film industry to use ChatGPT technology without getting into copyright disputes with software makers.
It is argued that the Guild does not consider a situation in which an artificial intelligence program writes a script entirely on its own, without human assistance.
