James Gunn promised new cameos in the second season of "Peacemaker"
"Peacemaker" director James Gunn has promised that the second season of the TV comic will feature more cameos by characters from the DC Cinematic Universe. Following the success of "Suicide Squad 2: Mission Away," released in 2021, Gunn created a TV spin-off on HBO Max in which John Cena reprises the role of Christopher Smith, known as Peacekeeper. The first season finale, which ended in February, broke the record for the most views of an episode of the original show on HBO Max on the day it premiered. Several popular Justice League characters appeared in the final episode, including Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), as well as Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Superman (Henry Cavill).
Following the announcement of the series renewal, Gunn hinted at the possibility of adding more cameos or "Easter Eggs" in the future featuring characters from other feature-length and TV projects based on DC comics. "I think there will be some more crossovers ahead of us in 'Peacemaker' and in other shows on HBO Max. So these cameos will continue to happen. I don't know if members of the Justice League will appear in every season of 'Peacemaker,' maybe it was an isolated incident. Anyway, we'll see!" said Gunn in particular.
Along with working on a second season of "Peacekeeper," Gunn recently let slip that he may be working on several DC projects, including a second "Suicide Squad 2" spin-off for HBO Max.
