Jerry Bruckheimer Discusses Johnny Depp's Potential Return as Jack Sparrow in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' Series
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer has openly expressed his hopes to bring Johnny Depp back as Jack Sparrow in the upcoming reboot of "Pirates of the Caribbean" or its sixth installment. This news comes amidst a backdrop of intense speculation and anticipation from fans and industry insiders alike.
In a recent conversation, Bruckheimer revealed that he has already discussed the possibility with Johnny Depp himself. “If it were up to me, of course, it would happen. I love when things work out. He’s a great actor and a good friend. I’ve talked to him, but we’ll see what happens,” said Bruckheimer.
The prospect of Depp's return follows a period of turmoil involving the actor and Disney, particularly after the release of "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales." Post-release, Depp had a highly publicized legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard and a fallout with Disney, leading him to initially refuse to participate in any future films of the franchise.
During his court proceedings, Depp concurred with his lawyer's statement that he would not return to the franchise "for $300 million and a million alpacas." However, rumors in 2023 suggested that his stance might have softened.
While Bruckheimer remains positive about the possibility of Depp's return, there have been no official updates from the studio as of now. The film industry and Depp’s fans are eagerly waiting to see if the beloved character of Jack Sparrow will make a comeback with Johnny Depp once again at the helm.
