Jessica Alba to play in Netflix psychological thriller
Jessica Alba will executive produce and star in a series based on Lisa Unger's international bestseller "Confessions on 7:45" ( ("Confessions on the 7:45"), which is in development on Netflix. Charise Castro Smith, co-screenwriter and co-director of the animated film "Encanto," will produce an adaptation of the novel. In addition, Smith will take on showrunner duties as well as executive producer, which he will share with Alba.
The plot of the psychological thriller "The 7:45 Confession" centers on Selena (Alba), a working mother who, on her way home, strikes up a conversation with a stranger on the train. This seemingly casual encounter turns her life upside down. As her life falls apart and betrayals are revealed, Selena wonders if we can really know the people closest to us.
According to Alba, she experienced strong emotions after reading the novel, which led to her involvement in the project, "I couldn't put this book down. The moment I read the line, 'If you want to keep a secret, you must first hide it from yourself,' I was hooked. This book is about trying to bury the secrets and shame we carry within ourselves until the truth exposes us. I can't think of a more interesting person to collaborate with on this project. Charise is incredibly talented and captures every nuance of the characters' lying behavior." This will be Netflix and Alba's second project together. The actress has an upcoming action film, Trigger Warning, in which she plays a SWAT officer.
