Kate Winslet to star in HBO drama about the collapse of an authoritarian regime

Kate Winslet and HBO will continue their partnership after the success of the "Mair of Easttown" mini-series. The Oscar and Emmy Award winner will star in a limited-episode series called "The Palace," describing a year inside an authoritarian regime that begins to crumble. Winslet will also serve as executive producer of the drama, commissioned by HBO for production.
"The Heirs" writer and executive producer Will Tracy is the creator and showrunner for the series, and Stephen Frears, who was nominated for an Oscar for the historical drama "The Queen," will take the director's chair.
"We are honored to work with this incredibly talented group of filmmakers on 'The Palace,'" HBO executives said in a statement. - The prospect of Kate Winslet and Stephen Frears, these two leading luminaries in the industry today (who, remarkably, have never worked together before) joining forces to bring Will Tracy's incredibly original, prescient and brilliant script to life on HBO, is a dream come true for us."
