Michael J. Fox, star of the Back to the Future trilogy, will receive the honorary Gene Hersholt Oscar. It is reported in a press release, which came to the editorial office of the publication "Film News". Other recipients will be screenwriter and producer Eugene Palsy, composer Diane Warren and director Peter Weir.
The Academy Board of Governors is honored to recognize four individuals who have made tremendous contributions to filmmaking and the world at large. Michael J. Fox's tireless advocacy for Parkinson's disease research, along with his boundless optimism, is an example of one man's impact on the future of millions. Eugene Palsy is a pioneering filmmaker whose importance in international filmmaking has been cemented in the history of cinema. Diane Warren's music and lyrics have enhanced the emotional impact of countless films and inspired generations of performers. Peter Weare is a filmmaker of unsurpassed skill and artistry whose work reminds us of the power of cinema to reveal the full range of human experience," said Academy Film President David Rubin in a statement.
The 2023 Oscar anniversary ceremony will be held on March 12, 2023, in Los Angeles.
