New "Black Panther 2" movie trailer features a female protagonist
Marvel Studios has unveiled a new trailer for "Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever" that gives a better look at the next Black Panther, who looks like a woman, in a brand new costume.
It's not yet clear if it will be Shuri, Nakia, Okoye or someone else. The trailer also includes a more detailed look at Namor and his underwater kingdom of Atlantis. It's also clear that, while staying true to the classic comic books, the makers of "Black Panther 2" have given the character the ability to fly.
In the trailer, M'Baku specifies that the Atlanteans call Namor "K'uk'ulkan, that is, god of feather snakes," and that killing him "will lead to eternal war." There is also a short scene in which the new heroine Ironheart flies around in her armor, inspired by the image of Iron Man.
The sequel loses the star of the first film, Chadwick Bowsman, who died in 2020 of cancer. Ryan Coogler returns to direct, additionally co-writing the script with Joe Robert Cole.
