Robert Downey Jr. will not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Following the announcement of Avengers 6: Secret Wars, most fans were hopeful that some of the franchise's first stars would return for the final battle. However, comments from Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard leave little hope for that.
I think one of the main elements of Phase 4 is the introduction of new characters. It was about the new characters taking up the baton. If you look at Cassie ("Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania") getting a costume, for example, and Kate Bishop ("Falcon Eye"), you see new characters like Jack ("Night Werewolf"). After the first 10 years of the narrative, the torches are passed on to the next generation, as in the case of Robert Downey Jr, who is no longer in our plans, and so on. The new generation has come to the forefront, which, again, has always happened in comics," he commented.
Will other popular characters return in Avengers 6: Secret Wars?
Given that Secret Wars could eclipse the scope of Avengers 4: The Final, many characters from the Marvel cartoon universe have that chance. Either way, Marvel boss Kevin Feigy is excited about the storylines of the next film projects leading directly to the mega-blockbuster. "Not every film in the Infinity Saga has been about the Infinity Stones or Thanos, there will be something similar next. But we're getting ready," he said in an interview. When is the next Avengers movie coming out?
A picture titled Avengers 5: Kang Dynasty is announced for May 2, 2025. In it, a new team of superheroes will face a formidable foe, Kang the Conqueror.
