Star Wars: The Clone Wars director to screen the video game Grounded
The Xbox video game "Grounded," inspired by the films "The Adventures of Flick" and "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids," will be turned into an animated series by the efforts of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" writer Brent W. Friedman.
The series, set in the same universe as the game, is about four friends who plan "big things" to raise their social status the summer before they move on to high school. But their plans fall apart when they stumble upon technology that shrinks them to two inches. Now the four tiny friends must learn to survive in a sprawling backyard that is a jungle full of huge predators and hides a corporate conspiracy that threatens their entire town.
The survival-inspired video game "Grounded" was released in early access in July 2020. More than 10 million players have participated in it, and a more extended release is planned for September 2022. The adaptation will be handled by Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox.
Friedman, who also wrote the script for "Star Trek: Enterprise" and is adapting the "Earthworm Jim" video game into a series as of this writing, will work on the script for "Grounded" with Brian Goodrich, director of the "Halo 5: Guardians" video game.
