The animated sequel to Cars has a Disney+ premiere date
Disney and Pixar Studios have announced the premiere date for the animated series "Cars on the Road." The spin-off of the full-length animated series, "Cars," will debut on Disney+ streaming on Sept. 8, 2022.
"Cars on the Road" follows the racing career of Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson). He and his best friend Mater (Larry the Cable Guy) head east from Radiator Springs on a cross-country road trip to meet Mater's sister. Along the way, the buddies will find themselves in unexpected and sometimes dangerous situations - for example, they will escape from dinosaur-like vehicles chasing them. The action will take place in new locations with new characters, but there will be familiar characters from the films franchise.
Wilson and Cable Guy Larry, who voiced the characters in the films, will reprise their roles in the animated series.
The series is a road trip across the country with Lightning McQueen and Mather," said writer and director Steve Purcell. - "Like any real road trip, each day is a new mini-adventure with unexpected twists and turns. Among the directors in addition to Purcell are Bobby Podesta and Brian Fee. The score for the animated series was written by Jake Monaco.
