Paramount Studios has acquired the rights to the action film "Stray" ("Tramp" - translation by Movie News), which is being handled by the creator of the "John Wick" franchise, Derek Kolstad.
As of this writing, Kolstad is writing the script for the film, which will star Kyle Allen, the performer of the role of Hyman in Netflix's upcoming sci-fi project "Masters of the Universe." The director's seat is vacant, and although plot details have not yet been revealed, the project is being positioned as a revenge thriller, in the spirit of action films like "John Wick" with Keanu Reeves and "Nobody" with Bob Odenkirk. Akiva Goldsman, Gregory Lessans and Kolstad will share executive producer duties.
Kyle has an infectious energy and is a pleasure to work with in all genres. With Akiva and Greg's support, we'll have one hell of a ride. Honestly, I can't wait to work with this team," Kolstad commented on the news.
Allen, who is also an executive producer on the film, is known for such series as "The Way" and "American Horror Story: Apocalypse." Of the young actor's feature-length projects, "West Side Story" and "Between Heaven and Earth."
