The Death Stranding movie will be very different from the game
Famous video game creator Hideo Kojima has clarified his plans for the upcoming "Death Stranding" film adaptation. Last week, Kojima Productions and Hammerstone Studios announced that a movie based on "Death Stranding" released for the 2019 PS4 is in development. Although there is no information yet on who will be the writer, director, and lead actor in the project, Hideo Kojima himself is confident that the film and the source material will have little in common.
According to him, when it came to the creation of the film with Hollywood actors, a number of proposals that he received, did not match his own vision.
We don't quite have a concept yet. The failure of recent game adaptations is largely due to the fact that they were mostly aimed at gamers. That's why they look just like a game. I don't want a Death Stranding movie to be like that. Rather, I take the approach of changing and evolving the world of Death Stranding in a way that fits the screen well. Games are games. There's no need to turn them into movies. So in a way, Death Stranding is going in a direction that no one has tried before with a game adaptation," commented Hideo Kojima.

The project is still in the very early stages of development, so it's hard to say exactly how it might turn out in the future. Nevertheless, it is clear that Hideo Kojima and the staff at Kojima Productions are taking a very different approach to this project, especially compared to other TV and TV adaptations such as "One of Us," "The Undiscovered: Drake's Luck" which sought to borrow ideas and plot elements from video games.
