The director of the action film "The Meg 2: The Hollows" hopes to direct the next instalment of the series
Ben Wheatley is confident he has a story to tell in his third film with Jason Statham
The sci-fi action film starring Jason Statham, "The Meg 2: The Hollows," has yet to be released, but that hasn't stopped director Ben Wheatley from imagining what a third instalment in the shark-themed series could look like. However, Ben Wheatley is afraid to jinx the sequel to 2018's The Meg: Monster of the Deep before it has a chance to cause a furore in cinemas from 4 August this year.
"I don't want to talk about it until 'The Meg 2' comes out," Ben Wheatley jokingly said when asked about the possibility of a 'Meg 3' release. - But I'm hoping for it. There's a lot more to explore in that world. It's very rich. Its internationality is very interesting."
"What's so clever about the first film is that it's not Rush Hour. It's not East meets West: 'Oh, we're all tangled up in each other,'" continued Ben Wheatley, who took over directing duties in the sequel after John Tarteltaub, who directed the original film. - 'These are ordinary people working together and engaging in everyday adventures, and these people just happen to come from different parts of the world. I think that's good for the audience, and it's also a good message."
