Marvel Studios appears to have decided on the screenwriter for "Avengers 5: Kang Dynasty," announced at this summer's Comic-Con. According to Deadline's sources, Jeff Loveless, who recently worked on the movie comic "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania," will pen the script for the upcoming Marvel film. Loveless will join Destin Daniel Cretton ("Shan-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings") appointed to direct the project. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feigy will serve as producer.
Marvel Studios, which has set a May 2, 2025 premiere date for "Avengers 5: Kang Dynasty," refrained from comment.
The film was part of a major presentation of the next phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at Comic-Con in San Diego this summer, and Cretton was announced as director shortly after the festival ended. Not much is known about the film, but the main character at its center is a new supervillain to wreak havoc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors.
Although the character first appeared at the end of the first season of the Loki series, he will play an important role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania, which Loveless just worked on. Loveless seems like a good fit for the next film subtitled "The Avengers," as he is well versed in the titular character that the superhero team will face.
Jeff Loveness
Loveness gained attention while working on the acclaimed and incredibly popular Rick and Morty animated series, which eventually led to an offer to write the script for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania. His other projects include the comedy series The Miracle Workers.
