The star of "West Side Story" has not been invited to the Oscars

The star of the musical "West Side Story," Rachel Segler, will be watching the Academy Awards festivities on television. According to the rising actress, she did not receive an invitation to the gala event.
Segler posted a series of photos on her personal Instagram account, accompanying them with the caption "a quarter of a year went well." One user wrote, "I can't wait to see what you'll be wearing on Oscar night," to which Segler responded, "I'm not invited, so my boyfriend's sweatpants and shirt are waiting for me."
The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27, 2022, and will be hosted by Regina Hall, Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes. Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story" is up for seven Oscar statuettes, including Best Picture and Best Director.
Each nominee and presenter is offered a pair of tickets. Other tickets are provided from each studio's allotment, although the Academy often finds extra tickets for VIPs who want to attend.
In comments, Segler, who is currently starring in London with Mark Webb in Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the same studio that distributed "West Side Story," thanked fans for their support, adding, "I hope some last-minute miracle happens and I can celebrate our movie in person, but, hey, sometimes it happens, I guess." The actress won a Golden Globe for her role in the musical.
