"Thor 4: Love and Thunder" director Taika Waititi talked about the pregnant horse Loki
Thor 4: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi explained the seemingly absurd scenes shown in the first trailers. He said they're all rooted in Scandinavian mythology, which has far more exotic imagery and situations.
When you watch the movie, you might think we asked a group of six-year-olds what they wanted to see in it and just said yes to all their assumptions. It seems so ridiculous. Let's say there's a Viking ship being towed through space by two giant goats, with Thor riding on it. But that's from mythology! So when I hear someone say, 'That's too much, Tyka,' my response is, 'But no, we got that from mythology,'" the director commented.
Waititi also gave a specific example of how Scandinavian mythology portrayed Loki, and joked that this is bound to become canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the foreseeable future.
Loki at one point turned into a female horse, slept with a snake, got pregnant and gave birth to an eight-legged horse. Why didn't that happen in The Avengers? We're going to petition, we need to see Tom Hiddleston pregnant with a horse," he added.
The comic book adaptation of "Thor 4: Love and Thunder" will be released in early July 2022.
