Tom Holland continues to do good as a street hero. According to insider information on The Hot Mic podcast, Holland has signed a new contract and will return as Peter Parker in the new Spider-Man films produced by Sony Pictures, which has teamed up with Disney and Marvel Studios to feature the superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films. According to unconfirmed information as of this writing, Holland has "closed the deal" for the as yet untitled film "Spider-Man 4," the sequel to last year's "Spider-Man 3: No Way Home," and the actor's new contract includes another trilogy about the superhero. It's not yet clear if all three projects will exist within the Marvel Cinematic Universe or if it will be Sony's Spider-Man.
Last year, "Spider-Man" franchise producer Amy Pascal said Sony was planning "the next three films" starring Holland as part of Kevin Feigy's CWM, which seems to confirm that the studios have reached a new agreement. "This is not the last movie we're going to make with Marvel, this is not the last Spider-Man movie," Pascal specifically said when promoting "Spider-Man 3. - We're getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We anticipate that it will be three films, and we're going to get started on them. This is not the last of our KVM films." Sony insiders later denied these claims, saying that there were "no official plans" for Spider-Man 4 or a second trilogy. However, days after the record-breaking December 2021 weekend premiere of "Spider-Man 3," Feigy said the two studios had already begun planning a sequel to the film. Sony and Disney signed a five-film deal in 2015 allowing Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Under the deal, Tom Holland starred in 2016's "The First Avenger 3: Confrontation" and then returned in 2017's "Spider-Man: Homecoming." The superhero appeared in 2018's "Avengers 3: Infinity War" and 2019's "Avengers 4: The Finale." The agreement ended on Spider-Man: Far From Home.
