Warner Bros. has officially slated a series of exciting releases for 2025 and 2026, with plans stretching as far out as 2027. Among the major announcements from the Burbank, California-based studio are the highly anticipated release dates for "Mortal Kombat 2" and "Companion," both set to premiere in Imax in 2025, and Zach Cregger's "Weapons" in 2026.

Mortal Kombat 2 Hits Theaters in October 2025Following the success of the initial "Mortal Kombat" film in 2021, Warner Bros. is gearing up for an even bigger sequel. "Mortal Kombat 2," developed by New Line Cinema, is scheduled for release on October 24, 2025. The sequel, which marks another collaboration between scriptwriter Jeremy Slater and director Simon McQuoid, continues from where the first film left off, which was significant as it launched during the reopening of theaters and was available simultaneously on HBO Max.

The original "Mortal Kombat" film opened with $23.3 million domestically and concluded its box office journey with a global total of $84.4 million. Also presented in Imax, the film's plot remains tightly under wraps. The cast features a mix of emerging and established stars such as Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, and Rupert Friend. Producers Raphael Margules, J.D. Lifshitz, and Zach Cregger, known for their innovative storytelling, are part of the creative team behind this New Line Cinema project.

Zach Cregger's 'Weapons' to Premiere in January 2026Continuing the trend of intriguing new films, Zach Cregger will bring his latest project, "Weapons," to theaters on January 16, 2026. Following his low-budget success with "Barbarian," Cregger writes and directs this New Line Cinema production.
