Warner Bros. to make new Lord of the Rings films
Warner Bros. and its subsidiary New Line are once again returning to Middle-earth. During the presentation of the quarterly report, CEO David Zaslav said that the studio has a new deal to make more films based on the work of The Lord of the Rings.
It is claimed Warner Bros. Discovery and New Line have entered into a multi-year agreement with Embracer Group AB, which currently owns the screen rights. Plans are already in the works for the animated film Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, due for release in 2024.
We're going to really concentrate on the franchise," says David Zaslav. - We haven't had a Superman film in 13 years. We haven't done a Harry Potter film in 15 years. DC films and Harry Potter film projects have provided the majority of Warner Brothers Motion Pictures' profits over the last 25 years. So focus on the franchise. Examples of this include House of the Dragon. "Game of Thrones", "Sex and the City", "Lord of the Rings". Yes, we still have the right to make Lord of the Rings movies. Use brands that are understood and loved around the world."
