Mark Cherry's anthology series, Why Women Kill, has lost its prospects for a third season. Despite the fact that Paramount+ renewed the series for a third season in December 2021, and negotiations were underway with well-known actors for starring roles, the decision was made to cancel the series, which was set to begin production shortly.
"Paramount+ has made the difficult decision not to promote a third season of Why Women Kill," the streaming media representative said in a statement. - "We would like to thank our partners CBS Studios and Imagine Television Studios, the brilliant creator and showrunner Mark Cherry; and the incredible writers, cast and crew for two unforgettable seasons.
The sudden decision on the eve of filming is surprising, as Nicole Clemens, president of content at Paramount+, praised the show's strong performance in its second season and, in announcing the renewal for a third season, stressed that the series was "in the top 10 shows on Paramount+ in terms of both overall engagement and attracting new subscribers."
