The creator of the acclaimed adventure film franchise "Children of Spies," Robert Rodriguez has announced the cast of the new version of the film co-produced by Netflix, Skydance and Spyglass. The new family members in will be Zachary Levi, Gina Rodriguez, Everly Carganilla and newcomer Connor Esterson, who will play lead roles.
Rodriguez will serve as writer, director and producer of the film, which will introduce the world to the next generation of spies. The new "Children of Spies" will be Rodriguez's second film for Netflix targeting family audiences, following the success of the 2020 action film "We Can Be Heroes."
In the story, the children of the world's greatest secret agents unwittingly help a powerful game developer release a computer virus that gives him control over all technology. To right the wrong and save their parents and the rest of the world, the kids become spies themselves.
Rodriguez, star of the show "Virgin Jane," recently landed the lead role in the ABC comedy "Not Dead Yet" and the Amazon series "Last Known Position." Levi will return as Shazam in the comic book movie "Shazam 2," which will be released in December 2022. Carganilla has appeared in the TV series "The Chair" and "Afterparty."
